With a relentless commitment to authenticity and an ever-expanding catalog of music, Highwayclassics is proving to be one of the most dynamic artists to emerge from the Austin music scene. His sound is not dictated by industry trends but by raw emotion, lived experiences, and a passion for storytelling that resonates deeply with listeners.
Highwayclassics’ previous works—Days Before Gotham, Fame, and One Last Ride—serve as a testament to his trials and tribulations in carving out a cultural identity within Austin’s evolving music landscape. These projects explore themes of lust, greed, addiction, and society’s complexities, giving listeners a glimpse into the battles he’s faced both personally and artistically.
“If I don’t feel it, I don’t do it. I make music to feel or convey feeling. That’s my job.” This philosophy is the core of his creative process. Every track is born out of genuine emotion, ensuring that his music remains a reflection of his truth rather than a formulaic attempt at commercial success.
Influences That Shape His Sound
Highwayclassics draws inspiration from Kanye West and PARTYNEXTDOOR, two artists known for their realism, artistic freedom, and refusal to be boxed into a single sound. Just like them, he aims to create music that feels natural, pushing boundaries while staying true to himself.
“I try my best to embody their message in the way I approach music. I’m free to say or be whatever I want as long as I can speak from a place of realism and actualization.”
This fearless approach allows him to explore a variety of sounds, ensuring that each project stands apart while maintaining a common thread of emotional depth and honesty.
The Challenges of Staying Real in an Industry That Lacks Passion
One of the biggest obstacles Highwayclassics faces is dealing with people who lack passion for their craft. In an industry where many seem indifferent, his unwavering dedication to truth and authenticity sets him apart.
“I say things that make those who aren’t comfortable with the truth very uneasy. It’s necessary because in order to grow, it takes an unwavering bid of honesty. That’s what I bring to the table.”
This commitment to realness has made him both a respected figure and a disruptor—someone who challenges the status quo, forcing listeners and peers alike to confront their own realities.
One of Highwayclassics’ most profound experiences was performing alongside the late Young Dolph in Lubbock, Texas. Dressed head-to-toe in Dolce & Gabbana, he met Dolph but initially felt a disconnect.
“I thought he didn’t like me. He didn’t say much nor did he really embrace me. Looking back, I couldn’t imagine what a person like him felt about meeting strangers. His lifestyle was different from mine, and I have to respect him for at least acknowledging me when we were face to face.”
This moment reinforced a valuable lesson: respect and understanding go beyond words, and every artist carries their own burdens, even in moments of success.
A Relentless Drive to Create
Unlike many artists who struggle to find inspiration, Highwayclassics thrives in the creative process.
“I actually enjoy making music. It’s not hard for me to get up and record—I just do it when I have something to say or a sound I want to try.”
Music is more than just a profession for him—it’s an extension of his existence, a means of expression that he embraces without hesitation. Whether he’s creating for himself or vibing with the music of others, his passion remains unwavering.
A Message to Listeners: Keep Going, It Gets Better
At the heart of his music is a deep desire to connect with people and inspire them to keep pushing forward.
“I want people to care. I want people to try. I want them to know it’s possible. Things aren’t always fun and happy, but if you stay the course, eventually, things work out.”
His music is a mirror to the struggles of many, offering validation, hope, and the reminder that success is within reach.
“I see them. I have felt their pain, their confusion, their passion. I have felt the way they feel, and I’m here to voice it and offer the notion that, yes, you can actually make it.”
